Alternating-current ringing and signaling machine

Inventory number: T16 92.90.0.
Year of creation: 1928
Maker: Ateliers H.CUENOD S.A. GENÉV-SUISSE
Location: Hall 1

The aggregate producing the auxiliary voltages for the exchange operation (ringing voltage, signaling tones) includes an alternating-current motor and an alternating-current generator. The motor powered by the alternating-current mains rotates uninterruptedly the generator mounted on the same shaft, which produces the following voltages: 6V 400Hz dial tone, 75V 16 2/3Hz ringing voltage, 6V 180Hz calling signal, 6V 400Hz interrupted busy tone. A failure of the alternating-current mains makes automatically start the direct-current ringing and signaling machine.
