On the altimetric and lateral angular points of the cable duct block-conduit lines, as well as at the end of the greater section lengths, moreover at the joining points of several duct directions, cable manholes were constructed. The cable manhole practically is an underground room made of concrete on the top of which a smaller sized hole serves for admission into the duct. This hole is covered by a lid at the level of the footway or sometime the roadway. The two main parts of the manhole entry (mandoor) are the framework and the lid. From 1898 through the 1930s rectangular, then circular mandoors were used. In the middle of the 1980s, decorated lids were applied in the neighborhood of listed buildings.
